How did Interchange change you?

I sought out Interchange because (in my perception at the time) it was a life coach training program grounded in personal development. I love personal development. I wanted to be a life coach. The school was located in my favorite city on the planet. The choice seemed like a no brainer.

Within the first day of Interchange I had a sneaking suspicion something a lot bigger than I expected was about to happen in my coaching ambitions.

I had no idea how correct I was.

Over the course of 10 months was revealed in a deep, beautiful way. With Interchange I gained confidence. The program gave me time and space to really dig into who I am and where I come from, literally and philosophically. Through the course work, as I learned more about counseling, I began to heal old hurts I didn’t know still had power over me and how I show up to others. I began to clearly see all the ways I was standing in my own way of authenticity – something I previously thought I had all figured out. I also learned that all of the above was just a story I have the complete and total power to rewrite. Pure liberation!

Confluence 2014Interchange wasn’t easy – that level of personal transformation was downright painful at times. But holy shit is my heart on fire for the world now! That’s another part of the revealing – my compassion quotient (is CQ a thing? It is now.) is off the charts. I am so much more loving, open and fearless than I’ve ever been and am forever searching for ways to push those limits within myself to love more, open more and be free from fear.

My personal life expanded in ways I never anticipated. When I first enrolled in the program I wondered if Interchange would help me figure out how to find love in my romantic life. But something even more fundamental happened with my heart – I was able to find a core trauma from early childhood and begin healing it. I’ve grown closer to my father, who I already thought I was close to. I was able to release another familial relationship that was hurting more than helping me. And I am in such deep and magical love with my own children who I already thought were the sun and the moon. I’m even getting along with my ex-husband — in ways I haven’t in years! Still single, though, but I that’s a product of my ever-expanding skills of discernment. Plus I now know how to get my complex human needs from an array of sources rather than hunting and hoping for the holy grail of The One, but I digress.

How are you changing the world?

For starters, I am unabashedly ME now and look for ways to inquire within to elicit more and more of Me to present to the world, fearlessly. What this does for the world is invite and inspire those around me to become more brave in their own lives. We humans are social animals who take 20150523_253our cues from each other. I love being bravely in love with the world now and know that I’m giving permission to everyone around me to do the same. In fact, I launched my business, Big Bravely, a couple of months before I graduated from Interchange because I just couldn’t wait to get started with the business of transformation.

With Big Bravely I help people employ inspiration and effect change in their own lives. Even with my just-beginning experiences, I see clients get more real in their every day lives, better connect to each other and gain insight into who they really are and where they want their lives to be.

Regardless of my business, I hope people whose lives I touch are gaining a positive effect – I’m certainly trying to. I connect more genuinely to strangers and have deep conversations with people I might not have ever take time to connect to previously. Life has gotten a little slower, a little more intentional and way more guided by intuition. It’s an honest way to live.

20150523_045For the world (and myself) I’m launching additional avenues for connection beyond one-on-one coaching and counseling. Coming soon to Big Bravely are in-person and online workshops centered around deep connection, a book club focused on topics of social justice, speaking engagements and a video podcast of quick tips for the Big Bravely life.

I was born and raised in Oklahoma and have lived here all my 39 years. I instinctually felt Oklahoma needed a post-Interchange Sheri – I love where I live but clearly see fear-thinking around every corner. I wasn’t super sure how I was going to pay for this program, travel across the country 10 times, maintain my employment and be a responsible mom. It was a little scary. But I knew I had to have a little faith that this lovely path I found wouldn’t lead to a dead end. It hasn’t – it’s led to soulful abundance. All my worries smoothed out into a beautiful flow and I look forward to doing Interchange all over again in Fall 2017.
